DEBORAH R HILL

A professional artist, working primarily in an abstract-realism style. Through differing balances of colour, brushwork and paint applications I try to create a time and place for my subject matter, whether it be a landscape, animal or stilllife. I find inspiration in the depth of colour and form in the natural world, rural vistas, beach, marsh, shorelines, although I am equally inspired in the studio setting painting a stilllife. A classically trained painter having earned a BFA with a concentration in painting, awarded The Faculty of Arts and Letters for outstanding achievement in the field of Art BFA University of Buffalo at Buffalo NY. Owned and operated Deborah R Hill Interiors, a residential & commercial design business Buffalo NY 1997-2010. Returned to painting full time 2010.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I find my inspiration in the depth of colour and form in the natural world, rural vistas, beach, marsh and industrial shorelines. Although I am equally inspired in the studio setting painting a stillife.

I work from my studio on a 16acre property, our homestead is named “Lucky Hill” where I reside with my husband and dog India.

I eared a BFA with a concentration in painting and was awarded The Faculty of Arts and Letters for outstanding achievement in the field of Art. After college I went on to paint for 7 years and sold through a gallery in Buffalo NY after which I decided to put aside my painting and pursue a Design career. I opened a shop at 132 Delaware Ave in Buffalo NY and did interiors for residential & commercial clients in between.

After a twelve year hiatus from painting, I decided to go back to painting full time.

At the time we were living part of our time in Charleston SC. The topography was so different from living in Western NY, soon I started Plein air painting the beaches & marshes. The owner of LePrince Fine Art galleries contacted me and asked to represent my artwork. I have been with Kevin LePrince for over 10 years.

I have always admired the equine and all that the horse has contributed to mankind over time. The use and misuse. I started painting the series Crossroads which features horse and rider. I had won Best in Show at the Piccolo Spoleto Art Exhibition in Charleston SC for one of the Crossroads paintings.

Another gallery that features my equine work is the Spa Fine Art gallery in Saratoga Springs home of the Saratoga Springs Races. I do not do horse racing paintings, but instead feature the horse in the landscape.

I am a professional artist with collections nationally and internationally. Please see my bio for a list of awards and shows to date.
