BILJANA PETRESKA

My art primarily consists of multimedia portraits. I specialize in conceptual imagery utilizing traditional and alternative photography techniques. I use drawing and painting elements in my works, in addition to diverse materials like resin, glass, acrylic, and natural substances.

My pieces are reminiscent of diary entries with a goal to share stories of vulnerability and resilience. I usually show vulnerability with emotions printed onto fragile materials such as leaves, feathers, and flower petals. I encase these organic materials in glass or in bottles; this protection symbolizes the needed invisible boundaries, representing resilience.

My art is created from a synthesis of experiences and a deep material and technique exploration to convey inner narratives that make us feel accepted as who we genuinely are, a kind offer to provide a sense of empowerment to myself and the viewer.
